Organized kayaking & alpine skiing trips in the Arctic with passion and pride in local life, nature and a sustainable approach.

...You could go kayaking out of the ordinary

Why visit Southern Senja?

This is where all the roads end and your retreat back to the natural north begins. As cliche as it sounds, as true it is. Southern Senja isn't placed on the direct route between Lofoten and Tromsø. Instead, it's calm and peaceful without transit traffic.

Dramatic 900 meter polished granite walls, sandy beaches, and arctic coastal pine forests that reach all the way to the sea. The south with it's peninsulas offer a big playground wether you're a hiker, kayaker, freediver, skier or coffee sipper.

Sustainability in Practice

Sustainability is not about filling in questionnaires and obtaining a certificate. It is about taking real action. Responsible tourism must be visible in the way we operate.

  1. Beach clean-ups
Throughout the summer, we visit remote beaches during our kayak tours and bring back marine plastic. This is a continuous, long-term effort that we carry out year after year. The plastic is taken care of by the local municipality.

  2. Protect the kelp forest (coming up)
Our Sea Urchin project to help the marine eco system. By participating in our snorkeling & freediving program, you engage in a citizen science concept, where we remove sea urchins and document the impact it has for kelp to grow back year after year.
  3. Respect for wildlife
We follow a strict wildlife code of conduct. We never interact with animals and always aim to minimise disturbance, while fully respecting nature reserve regulations.
  4. Leave No Trace
All of our trips are conducted according to Leave No Trace principles, ensuring that we leave the environment exactly as we found it.

  5. Small groups, lower impact
By limiting our groups to a maximum of six guests and adapting routes to weather and conditions, we reduce pressure on nature while creating safer, more personal, and more meaningful experiences.

  6. Supporting conservation and research
We contribute to nature restoration initiatives connected to Ånderdalen National Park and support local citizen science projects such as Rissa.

  7. Social responsibility
Through our project Skiing for a Better Life in Tromsø, run in collaboration with Gnist Activity House, we use outdoor experiences to create positive social impact in the local community.

  8. Supporting the local community
We are a locally founded company that pays taxes locally and works with local partners. Choosing local businesses helps ensure that tourism benefits the communities and landscapes that make these experiences possible.
